An advantage of being a downtown urban boutique inn is StoneFort's proximity to the heart of everything great in Chattanooga. You don't have to travel very far to find something fun and interesting to do when you stay with us. Here are 5 ways to explore Chattanooga TN, including...
CARTA Electric ShuttleThe Downtown Electric Shuttle – CARTA, the city's public transit system, has one of the largest fleets of electric buses in the country. Chattanooga was the first in the nation to have free zero emissions electric vehicles.
They run daily at 5-minute intervals from the Southside to the Tennessee Aquarium with stops at every block in between, including a CARTA bus stop on Market Street that is a short walk from the StoneFort Inn. Simply pull the yellow cord or press the yellow tape above your head to let the bus driver know that you want to get off at the next stop. CARTA bus drivers can only stop at designated bus stops and where it is safe.
Bike Chattanooga – The transit system also offers hundreds of bicycles at over 30 stations located throughout the city and available for use 24/7, 365 days a year. One such station is just steps away from StoneFort Inn at the corner of MLK Blvd and Lindsay Street. You use a touchscreen kiosk and purchase a 24-hour pass to get a bike. When you're done, lock the bike back at any station near your destination and they'll make sure the bikes get redistributed to have enough at each station.
Chattanooga has been nationally recognized in publications like Bicycling Magazine as one of America's most bike-friendly cities. Note: You must be 16 years or older to use the Bike Chattanooga service.
Cab – There are multiple cab services in the immediate Chattanooga area. This can be a safe and convenient way to travel while visiting restaurants/bars on the Northshore. Make sure you check that you have your belongings when you exit a cab because it can be easy to drop something or forget.
Walking – Several great places are within walking distance of StoneFort Inn (TerraMae, Public House, Warehouse Road, Terminal, Honest Pint, Pickle Barrel, etc.) and a leisurely stroll can give you a chance to take in your surroundings and enjoy some fresh air while also getting exercise. Chattanooga offers a variety of walking parks, promenades and public art displays. If walking is your thing, Chattanooga has one of the world's longest pedestrian bridges and a long riverwalk area.
Wherever you're headed (and however you get there), we hope you enjoy your time with us in Chattanooga and return safely to rest your head at StoneFort Inn.
